Nomos Glashütte Lambda
Nomos Lambda, classy luxury
In 2013 the Nomos Glashütte watch maufacture presents a watch which clearly distinguishes itself from any of the previous collections. Even though certainly still considered an original it does indeed manifest a masterpiece of material as of manufacture in the long tradition of Nomos Glashütte going back to 1990. In processing precious metals such as rose or white gold in cases and dials according to all artistic standards Nomos proves to perfectly master the high art of watch making manufacturing. The Nomos Glashütte Lambda in particular is a delicate piece of art distinguished by its details. The usual understatement of Nomos as appreciated by the connoisseur is once again clearly reflected in the Lambda line.
The Lambda, a style icon
As many other models by Nomos the design of the Lambda line originates from the Hannes Wettstein studios in Zurich, Switzerland. The name itself is derived from the eleventh letter of the Greek alphabet and can be found as a sign for certain processes and procedures in science, geometry as well as mathematics. Thus Lambda as a letter takes on multiple meanings and manifests high value. By borrowing it as a name Nomos intends to implicate this specific quality of their watch. The dial of the Nomos Glashütte Lambda dial not only presents hands for hours, minutes and seconds in perfectly geometrical order but displays the remaining duration of run as a special feature. All in all bezel, crown, dial and hands add up to a handsome harmonious overall impression. Consequently connotations of the style icon are not at all immoderate. In any event both models of the Lambda line can clearly be considered an investment. The Nomos Glashütte Lambda features 29 jewels composed in partly polished and inserted gold chatons. The balance cock is hand engraved. The three-quarter plate is rhodanized with a sunburst and all edges of the movement are manually polished and beveled.
