The Master, Master in Business
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master is considered a classic wrist watch which proves of best balanced proportions in relating case and bezel to the dial. Successfully launching the collection since 2004, the watch manufacture of Jaeger LeCoultre from Le Sentier in Switzerland has been clearly been inspired by the Master’s classy forerunners. As the collection has a considerable coverage it is classified into three categories. In fact, depending on the model the watches and chronographs of the Master collection feature all and every thinkable complication that can possibly be incorporated into a watch. Furthermore the collection contains the Ultra-Thin Watches which took on high significance in terms of Jaeger-LeCoultre history. In 1903, the manufacture found in 1833 was to develop the flattest mechanic movement ever since. At a height of merely 1, 38 mm. In 1929, the worldwide smallest hand-wound movement was to follow. Consisting of 98 parts, at a weight of less than a single gram. After all, Jaeger-LeCoultre Master collection cases are not at all of minor size. With a 43 mm diameter the watch will in defiance of its flatness, certainly make a fit to the widest wrist.
As mentioned before, the Master series are subdivided into three categories: the Master Control, the Ultra Thin and the Grande Tradition. The cases of the 34 models in total are alternatively made of stainless steel, pink gold, white gold, platinum and titanium. Due to the wide range the manufacture relies on different movements for different models. For instance Caliber 868 as included in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual or Caliber 176 as incorporated in the Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee. The last, belonging to the anniversary models launched in honor of the brand’s 180th anniversary, captivates by the so called spherical tourbillon, which omits the upper bridge to open the view upon the very core of the watch. Val Klimer aka Batman aka Bruce Wayne was the one to wear a Jaeger-LeCoultre in “Batman Forever”. But in fact not with the original Batman-Suit, but the obligatory Smoking, which probably seems not only to Butler Alfred a lot more “appropriate”.
